Paul Gerrard

Paul is a well-known consultant and speaker in the UK. In 2010 he won the EuroSTAR Testing Excellence Award and in 2013 he won the inaugural TESTA Lifetime Achievement Award. He won the ISTQB Testing Excellence Award in 2018. His interests include professionalism in testing, understanding how software professionals think and communicate, and the application of ML/AI in software development.

THE TEST ENGINEERING SOCIETY

The key proposals for the Test Engineering Society are:

• A Test Engineering Society (TES) and registration scheme that aligns with the Engineering Council’s (EC) standards should be established.
• The aim of the TES is to establish a registration scheme for professional test engineers.
• The TES will be a collaborative, international organisation with Regional chapters.
• Initial member organisations of the TES will commit to establishing the TES as a credible institution with a mission, constitution and credible business plan.

The Primary objectives of the TES will be to:

A. Create a registration assessment process for (initially) the EngTech, IEng and CEng categories.
B. To achieve A, pursue a partnership with the EC in the UK (initially) to obtain a licence to grant registrations. Regional Chapters of the TES are expected to approach their equivalent local institutions, if appropriate.
